<![CDATA[Where does Granite get it's color?]]> http://www.surfacesusa.com/blog/color_of_granite/ The popular natural stone called granite, gets most of it's color due to an abundance in one specific mineral. For example, pink and white granites tend to have more pinkish orthoclase and microcline over plagioclase. White granites tend to have more aplitic plagioclase, yet have some dark mica and hornblende too. Basically, these other minerals are different colors and their combination along with the color and size of quartz and silica make up the designation (and general color) of the granite.

<![CDATA[What is Granite in simple words?]]> http://www.surfacesusa.com/blog/what_is_granite/ Granite is a natural rock that was created when the earth was cooling. It is an igneous rock formed by crystallization of magma. Once magma reaches the surface it is called Lava so granite was never lava. Granite’s origin is ‘intrusive’, meaning that it was formed below the surface. It is a crust that wraps the earth like a ring inside trees. It is actually formed at a considerable depth in the Earth’s crust and can be found all over the world. Two of the biggest suppliers of the popular material are in Brazil and India. Because of the beautiful colors and high quality granite products that these countries produce, Surfaces USA usually imports most of our materials from them.
